Golfing  around colonial Williamsburg

We have selected four excellent golf courses, all easily accessible from our home base in Williamsburg.   Three of the courses are cut amongst the rolling tree lined hills typical of colonial Williamasburg, and the other is very reminiscent of the links courses of Great Britain.  Each round will be preceded by  warm-up time on the practice range.   Golf carts are provided.  After each round, a delicious three course meal awaits our dining pleasure.

Day 2 - Kingsmill Resort

Previously the site of the PGA tour's Michelob Championship, and now the site of the LPGA's  Michelob Championship, this 63 hole golf resort challenges professional and amateur golfers alike with fairways cut through the woodlands adjacent to the historic James River.  Designed by Pete Dye, Arnold Palmer, Tom Clark and Curtis Strange, several of the holes run along its fabled banks.

Day 4 - Golden Horseshoe Golf Club

The Golden Horseshoe's two 18 hole golf courses, gold and green, rank among the best on the east-coast of the U.S.  One designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and the other by Rees Jones, they beautifully blend the challenge of championship golf with the natural terrain of Colonial Williamsburg.

Day 6 - Ford's Colony Country Club

Ford’s Colony Country Club has three 18 hole championship golf courses.   Each course challenges golfers of all levels of ability.  They roll through Williamsburg's natural terrain and wooded hillsides.  Their lengths range from 6970 yards (back tees Blue Heron) to 4605 yards (front tees Blackheath). Many lakes and bunkers lie along the plush fairways and sloping greens.

Day 8 - Tradition Golf Club at New Kent

This 18 hole, par 72 course, designed by architect Mike Stranz,  is modeled after the legendary links courses of Ireland.   It is thought to be one of America's greatest tests of golf.  It measures 7038 yards  from the back tees, and 5139 yards from the front tees.  It is a masterpiece you won't believe can exist on this side of the Atlantic.
