Our 2008 Itinerary at a Glance

Begins on Friday, Oct. 3rd and ends on Sunday, Oct.  12th  

DAY 1:  Arrival at Richmond Airport, transfer to Williamsburg.  .  Check in at the Hospitality House Hotel and settle in. Assemble for a Welcome Cocktail Party receive information about your holiday, and then a Get Acquainted Dinner at the hotel.  Those who wish to take a peek at Colonial Williamsburg may opt for an after-dinner stroll to the restored area, just two blocks away.  

DAY 2:  GOLF: Kingsmill Resort, with lunch.  

NON-GOLF:  We will visit Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News, and then on across the James River to the South Side for a visit to Smithfield Village, with lunch at the charming, Victorian Smithfield Inn.  Afternoon in the historic Isle of Wight county, returning by ferry boat across the James.  

DAY 3:  (All tour) A day at “Busch Gardens, Europe" a truly wonderful amusement park with an "olde worlde" theme.  Independent lunch at the park. You may elect to stay for dinner and take in a show and the bus will pick you up at 9:00 when the park closes.  

DAY 4:  GOLF: Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, with lunch  

NON-GOLF:  A shopping tour, including the famous Williamsburg Pottery Factory, The Yankee Candle Factory, the Doll Factory, and the Williamsburg Prime Outlets, with lunch at a southern barbeque restaurant.

Evening Free, or optional “Candlelight Tour" in Colonial Williamsburg after dinner.

DAY 5:  (All tour) A day in Colonial Williamsburg : a morning guided walking tour with  lunch at Chowning’s Tavern, in the garden.  The afternoon is free for you to explore. 

Optional: evening at one of several unusual dinner theaters, such as the Haunted Dinner Theater at Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant.  

DAY 6: GOLF: Ford’s Colony Country Club, with lunch. 

NON-GOLF:  A guided tour of the Williamsburg Winery with a taste of several of their delicious wines, followed by lunch at the Gabriel Archer Tavern on the winery grounds.  Afternoon guided tour of Jamestown, the site of the first permanent English settlement in America, 1607, including the Jamestown archeological excavations and museums, as well as replicas of the three ships on which the original settlers arrived in Virginia.   Special exhibits commemorate Jamestown's historic 400th anniversary.

Evening free.  Optional: dinner at a Colonial Williamsburg Tavern, with entertainment and authentic colonial food.

DAY 7:  (All tour) Visit to historic Yorktown: morning at the Watermen’s Museum and the battlefield, with lunch across the York River at the River's Inn in Gloucester.  Afternoon at the Yorktown Victory Center.  

Evening free.     

DAY 8:  GOLF: The Tradition Golf Club at New Kent.

NON-GOLF:  Tour of historic Richmond, Virginia in the morning, with lunch at the charming old Jefferson Hotel. In the afternoon, a visit to Shirley Plantation, overlooking the James River, on our way back to Williamsburg. 

Evening free.

DAY 9:  (All tour)  A day in scenic and historic Hampton Roads with visits to the Air and Space Center and the History Museum.  After lunch in the restored area of Old Hampton, an afternoon cruise through the Norfolk Harbor passing points of historical interest and a stop at old Fort Wool,  providing an up-close look at the U.S. Navy's Atlantic Fleet at anchor. 

Farewell Dinner: Berret’s Seafood Restaurant in Merchants’ Square, with the closing program and slide show.

DAY 10:  Departure.  Those who leave in the afternoon may lunch together at Paul’s Deli, just two steps from our hotel (a delight, if you have not already discovered it!) after check-out.  

Land cost per person, double occupancy, including travel insurance:

Golfer - $2,750, Non-Golfer - $2,450
