Our 2008 Portugal Itinerary at a Glance

Begins on Friday, Sept. 19th and ends on Sunday, Sept. 28th

          Day 1:   Arrival at the Lisbon Airport. We will meet your flight in the morning, and transfer the group by motor coach to Cascais. Check-in at the Hotel Baia.  Afternoon free.  Welcome Cocktail Party and Dinner at the Hotel Baia. 

          Day 2 Golfers:  Praia Del Rey, including lunch in the club house.  Non-golfers:  Obidos (medieval walled village), Nazare (well-known typical fishing village where we will have lunch), Batalha (ancient town with a 15th century monastery) and Fatima, (one of the world’s most famous shrines.)  Evening free. 

          Day 3: Tour day. Belem, Jeronimos Museum, St. George’s Castle in Lisbon with lunch. Afternoon stroll through the Alfama (old Lisbon). Evening free.

          Day 4: Golfers: Quinto da Marinha,  with lunch.  Non-golfers: Half Day visit of Queluz Palace & Gardens. Lunch in Lisbon with afternoon free for shopping. Evening free.

          Day 5: Tour day: Sintra, The National Royal Palace, Colares with wine tasting.  Return to Cascais for free afternoon.  Evening: dinner and traditional entertainment at a Fado restaurant. 

          Day 6: Golfers: Estoril Colf Club, with lunch.  Non-golfers: visit to the local market day in Lisbon (The Ribeira Market), continuing on to visit the Tile Museum (Museu do Azulejo, one of the most stunning museums in Lisbon). Lunch at the museum restaurant, afternoon visit to “Parque das Nações” (Former Expo 98 area). The Evening is free.

          Day 7: Tour day.  Travel south of Lisbon to visit Azeitão, Sesimbra, Arrabida and Palmela. Evening free.

          Day 8: Golfers: Penha Longa Golf Course, with lunch. Non-golfers: Mafra Palace and convent, Sobreiro to visit the Jose Franco studio, lunch in the fishing village of Ericeira, return to Cascais via the Pena Palace in Sintra. Evening Free. 

          Day 9:   Tour day.  Drive east of Lisbon, across the Alentejo to Evora for an exciting journey into the past. Evora is a walled town dating from Roman times and now attractively Moorish in character. After lunch visit to Estremoz, an ancient walled town dominated by its medieval castle. Return to Cascais. Farewell dinner in Cascais Village.

          Day 10 Transfer to Lisbon airport and departure.
