2008 Itinerary at a Glance
Begins on Friday,
Aug. 22nd
and ends on Sunday, Aug. 31st
Day 1:
Arrival at the Marseille Airport. We will meet your flight in the morning
between 9am and noon, and transfer the group by motor coach to Avignon. Check-in at
the Mercure Pont d'Avignon. Afternoon free.
Welcome Cocktail Party.
Day 2:
Golfers:
Grand Avignon Golf Club, including lunch in the restaurant.
Non-golfers:
visit to the Abbey of Senanque and the hilltop village of Gordes.
Lunch in Gordes.
Afternoon visit to the Lavender Museum.
Day 3: Tour day.
Sunday morning market in Isle sur la Sorgue, with lunch.
Afternoon visit to Fontaine de Vaucluse and the hilltop villages of the
Luberon.
Day 4: Golfers: Nimes-Vacquerolles, with lunch.
Non-golfers: visit to the ruins of the castle of Beaucaire with lunch at
a charming country farm house. Visit to Nimes while the bus picks up the
golfers, and then a group visit to the Pont du Gard and its museum.
Day 5: Free day in Avignon.
Opportunity to tour the Palais des Papes, the Petit Palais, the Pont St.
Benizet, or simply shop and relax.
Day 6: Golfers: Golf de Servanes, with lunch.
Non-golfers: visit to the Wednesday Market at St. Remy de Provence, and
then to the ancient Roman ruins nearby, with an authentic Roman-style lunch near
the excavation site.
Afternoon
visit to Les Baux de Provence, the village and the citadel.
Day 7: Tour day.
Visit to Arles, with its Roman amphitheater and Hall Van Gogh, etc.
Lunch. Afternoon
tour through the Camargue nature preserve and the village of Stes. Maries de la
Mer, on the Mediterranean coast..
Day 8: Golfers: Golf de Pont Royal, with lunch.
Non-golfers: city
tour of Aix en Provence, with lunch.
Afternoon tour of Cézanne's studio and then a visit to .
Montaigne Ste. Victoire, one of his favorite subjects.
Day 9:
Tour day.
Visit to Carpentras, then on to Mount Ventoux, famous and difficult leg
of the Tour de France.
After lunch, a wine tour and tastings in private cellars.
Farewell Dinner.
Day 10:
Transfer to Marseille airport and departure.
